The Pearson Hall MakerGym project included a 6,700 SF renovation to a former Newark Public School gymnasium, which was purchased by UD in 1981. The MakerGym, which is centered around a 3 ton CNC router features several 3d printers, textiles refinishing, laser cutters, industrial sewing machines, and an advanced manufacturing research center. The MakerGym is the newest makerspace to UD’s campus, which is developing products in such areas as wearable technology, astrophysics, graphic design and multimedia, education and physical mobility.
