Bancroft completed the 17,280 SF Northern Resource Center for the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay on seven acres of land on Old Baltimore Pike in Newark, DE. The service center provides much-needed space and resources for the girls and adult volunteers that GSCB serves. Centered around a stone-clad beacon to symbolize “A Beacon for All Girls,” the facility features a multi-purpose room, administrative offices, space for meetings, a retail shop, and exhibit area. The project also incorporated stormwater management strategies to address a sensitive site restricted in development by wetlands as well as young and mature forests. Prior to constructing their new facility, the GSCB occupied space on the nearby University of Delaware campus for 25 years.
