Bancroft Construction proudly joined Kent County officials and community leaders on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, to celebrate the groundbreaking of two new state-of-the-art Emergency Medical Services (EMS) facilities in Kent County, Delaware. These new stations, located in Frederica and Harrington, will enhance emergency response capabilities and ensure faster, more efficient care for residents across the growing region.

Tuesday, Kent County Levy Court Vice President Robert Scott noted that in the last ten years, the county has seen double the amount of yearly EMS calls. The new facilities, part of Kent County’s strategic effort to modernize its emergency infrastructure, are being built to support the community’s growing needs and the vital work of the country’s paramedics.

Bancroft Construction is serving as the construction manager for both projects, leveraging its deep experience in public safety and municipal construction. “We’re honored to partner with Kent County on these two important projects,” said Greg Sawka, President and CEO of Bancroft Construction. “These new EMS stations represent a commitment to community health, safety, and preparedness. We’re proud to contribute to a project that will directly support the lifesaving work of Delaware’s first responders.”

Both stations will be identical in size at 3,712 square feet. However, the Frederica building will be a total of 4,340 square feet to house Kent County’s Emergency Command Center. Each station will include living quarters, offices, training space, and modern medical support infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of paramedic teams.

Funding for the project comes from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars. Officials emphasized that the new stations will improve service delivery and support recruitment and retention efforts within Kent County’s EMS department. Construction is expected to be completed in 2026.
